The student came to the m,aster forlorn and full of grief.
"What is the matter dear child?" he asked.
"I fear I have lost my hear...." the student chocked.
To anyone this would have sounded absurd but the philosopher loojked at the student with pity in his eyes and motioned him to come near.
"I pray you listen dear child, I pray you listen. To lose one's mind is an affliction that with the right medicine can be overcome. For if one is in insane they know not that they are insane and as such they are fine. To lose one's sight is sad but beautiful, for one can now see the wonders of the world through his heart and remember what he has lost. The same applies to the hearing and the sense of touch...to lose these is saddening but to lose one's heart...is tragic.
We live so we may love and if we lose our love then what do we have? For more than oft a man has set out on a journey to find his love and come back forlorn. I could speak of heroes taken from our eyes because of love. Hercules descended into the depths of Hades for his love. Achilles fought for the love of battle and was taken for it. Jesus came to earth for love and for love, died.
You speak of loss of love? But is it really lost if it can still dreg up the most saddenning images in your head? Is it really gone if your heart still vbeats for the same person you claim to have lost? They say it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. How true my child. How true. Often we cast aside our masks for the sake of love, for the need to reveal who we truly are to the ones we love. And at times this is shoved back in our faces.
We lose love, we lose things but we must be glad of the opportunity we have been given to feel this passion that is love."
"This will not bring my heart back, of what use is your rambling to me?" the student asked.
The master walked away from the student with a look of sadness in his eyes.
"Foolish, foolish.", he muttered.
Is your heart not beating? Is your mind not spinning? Do you say that you have lost your heart simly becasue it is no longer with you? Do you stop feeling the way you felt when that person held your hand, or touched her lips to yours? You can feel your heart pound and you must not be ashamed, no, you must not be ashamed to love one thatt does not love you back. You must be proud that you are capable of love. Winds blow near and far but our hears remained unfurled by the gales, birds leave when the chills arrive but hearts stay whatever weather. Be proud that you can love! Be happy that you can love!! But be sad, when you are not loved. It is easy to be loved, but it is a great person, that is loved, and an even greater person...that is loved by the one that he loves..."
The master looked up into the sky,
"The rains approach...come, wine eases but does not take away the pain of heartache. So come, let us ease your pain."
